In the Cognac world VS means Very special and XO means Extra Old, so Grey Goose VX is Very Extra!
The world’s best tasting French wheat vodka masterfully finished with a hint of precious Cognac grapes from France’s Champagne region. I was encouraged to try it chilled neat or on the rocks. It tried it chilled neat then with a couple ice cubes and I have to say it is amazing chilled neat. I tasted fruit, dried fruit, some citrus and sweet. I look forward making a Grey Goose VX martini stirred with a lemon twist, it could very well be my new cocktail. The bottle is beautiful, it comes in an elegant gift box when you open it you see a very well designed impressive decanter. Grey Goose VX, what Grey Goose calls vodka exceptionnelle finished with a hint of precious cognac, also printed on the bottle “exclusive edition” so stock up. It is sold at fine retailers and restaurants nationwide, with a retail price of $75.00/750 ml; it goes quick so I would encourage you to buy two at a time, Santé.

Ralph’s Coffee, the first-ever coffee shop from Ralph Lauren. Ralph’s Coffee in NYC, the address is, 711 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 1122 (www.ralphs-coffee.com), or right across the street from the world famous St. Regis Hotel New York. Located on the second floor of the three story Polo Ralph Lauren flagship store.
First impressions I loved that it was very clean and a simple menu, also organic grown beans that make a great cup of coffee. We enjoyed a cup of Ralph’s Coffee and a pastry, regular drip coffee $3.00 and they only have one size so no lines no indecisive consumers. You can get a latte or cappuccino for $4.50, and you can buy the Ralph’s Coffee beans to take home. We tried a few pastries and special sandwiches are featured daily.
Helping to market Ralph’s Coffee will be a retro style food truck, selling Ralph’s Coffee and an assortment of pastries. Enjoy a cup of Ralph’s Coffee.

Dunkin’ Donuts first location in CA, located at 12th and Wilshire in Santa Monica, California. What a treat every time I hit New York or Florida I have to stop by for some French Vanilla Coffee and a couple of my favorite frosting filled powdered donuts or dozen assorted munchkins (donut holes). Now I can pop in and enjoy DD’s after my morning run to the pier.
Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc. based in Massachusetts also has Baskin-Robbins (7,300 shops), Dunkin’ Donuts nearly 11,000 locations in 33 countries. In New York City there are more Dunkin’ Donuts than Starbucks, it is a company with a big following of loyal consumers. I like a bit of variety when I drink my morning coffee, my plans are to add DD’s into my mix of Starbucks, Intelligentsia, Peet’s, Coffee Bean, Krispy Kreme… and all my secret mom and pop coffee shops I love to go to.
This is the first of a few hundred Dunkin’ Donuts that will open in the next few years. “I’m at Dunkin’ Donuts do you want me to pick you up something” yes it’s time to pop in to Dunkin Donuts and find out what your favorites are. If it’s your first time may I recommend the hot French Vanilla Coffee and any donut they have mastered both.

Los Angeles Times The Taste was August 29-31 at Paramount Pictures Studios presented by Citi (www.latimes.com/thetaste or #tastela). I wanted to write about the event, yet I decided to just share some photos and some kind words on some of the many brands that I had the pleasure of tasting. I know I missed a lot but there was too much to taste. I did attend Opening Night, Field To Fork, Dinner With A Twist and Sunday Brunch yet most of this is from the last event Flavors Of L.A. hosted by Jonathan Gold and Michael Cimarusti.
Some of my many highlights include, Stella Artois with Daniel Joly, owner and executive chef of Mirabelle at Beaver Creek, CO. Tasty food from Little Sister, Manhattan Beach, CA. Sitting in top of the line new Buick cars, while listening to the staff, very well informed girls who own Buicks. Don Julio had the Airstream Speakeasy, Matt from Zaca Mesa had many wines from the vineyard. Kara turned me on to a bourbon I had not had before J.R. Ewing Bourbon, it’s a private reserve 4 year old bourbon from Kentucky, I had to taste it more than once, so good. Twice The Vice (www.twicethevice.com) had some amazing chocolates with liquor inside, they blend alcohol into the ganache center of each piece all there products are gluten free. Christiaan Rollich from A.O.C. and Lucques made cocktails with Basil Hayden and he makes his own ingredients all made from scratch by his side Merry Tungka Co-Host of The Gary Garver Show. Bolla Rosé Sparkling Wine and Placido Chianti from Italy. Sukkah Hill Spirits had both the Etrog Liqueur and the Besamim Aromatic Spice Liqueur. Matura had both the 2012 Marlborough Pinot Noir and 2013 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Hornitos Tequila set up there own little cantina, they featured the new Hornitos Black and Hornitos Lime Shot. Whispering Angel poured their Cotes de Provence Rose from magnums. The whole crew from Apartment A was there making cocktails with La Niña del Mescal Espadin. Jim Beam had their Jim Beam Maple, Fire and Honey, it went well with Mexikosher right next door. One of my favorites was the Mezcal Mule a cocktail made by Forrest Cokely (www.adrinkwithforrest.blogspot.com) featuring Mina Real Silver Mezcal, Barritts Bermuda Stone Ginger Beer and Boy Drinks World Serrano Cocktail Spice (indiegogo www.spicemybeer.com). Kirin Ichiban had a couple frozen draft machines so cool.
