Either way you will enjoy this rosé as it is big, round and fruit driven. Not so much that it screams California, if you blind taste this rosé you may say it is from France. Made from Estrella-clone Syrah from the Mossfire Ranch, a scenic 320 acre property on the eastern side of Paso Robles, CA. Paso Robles is known for superior fruit, and amazing scenery. This is going to be an amazing summer, wine- stock up!

2016 Barnard Griffin Rosé of Sangiovese Wine Review

They are serious about this festive and flavorful dry wine. Quality rose starts with grapes grown specifically for this purpose. At Bernard Griffin used the best roses are a deliberate result of careful winemaking, not an incidental byproduct of red production. Their rose is conceived in the vineyard at pruning and matured to be crisp, lean and fruity.

Fred's Red Mendocino County Red Wine

Fred’s Red Mendocino County Red Wine Review

Fred’s Red Mendocino County Red Wine, bottled by McNab Ridge Winery Ukiah, California.

The Fred’s Red label named after the original McNab dog, Fred, and like Fred is a blend of many things. In this case, a base blend of Syrah and Zinfandel but with a large number of little known Portuguese varietals thrown in. It’s fresh, clean, soft, and an infinitely gulpable and enjoyable wine to have with anything off the grill.

On The Back Label

My name is Fred, a McNab Shepherd- a working dog established in Mendocino County over 100 years abo by my Scottish ancestors. Back then, we herded sheep. Today, the McNabs on this ranch round up grapes. A sheep dog herding grapes, you say? You may think I’m barking up the wrong vine here, but grapes, patrolling the vineyard, trying to remember where I buried that bone. I’m very particular about flavor and choose only select vines under which to bury my best bones. Better flavor, better aging. You’re sure to like Fred’s Red and so will your canine-loving friends. Cheers!
