OL’ MAJOR Bacon Bourbon Review

Ol’ Major Bacon Bourbon, is a well made product, at first sight you see a screw top and a wooden looking label. Under the cap it smells like bourbon with a hint of bacon. I admit I do want to taste it, is it more bourbon or more liqueur. At 35% or 70 Proof I am hoping it is more bourbon, with that pleasant hint of bacon.

Taste is enjoyable, you will have the sweet taste of bourbon that is all the flavors you get from aging in charred barrels yet you also get the taste of bacon which makes it just that much better. I like to drink bourbon neat (straight without ice) and this would be great after dinner. I must say I did try it in a cocktail the Good Ol’ Bacon Bloody Mary and I liked it so much I had made 3 or 4 of them.

Yes if you like bourbon or bacon, you will find something in Ol’ Major Bacon Bourbon that you will enjoy. Order a bottle online today by clicking here.

Here are some other peoples opinions;

The Mixing Glass

The Mixing Glass Liquor Store Costa Mesa, CA

Have you ever dreamed of a liquor store that only has products you love. I found that store, The Mixing Glass is a craft cocktail lifestyle store, that sells the hardest to find spirits, best vintages and the most relevant books and bartending tools. If that is not enough to get you into the store they also carry hard to find mixes, bitters and more bitters. It’s not a big store, they don’t carry every brand, the carry the brands that bartenders and industry experts are drawn to, not high priced but highly regarded brands. And best of all they have a knowlegeble approachable staff to help make sure you get what you came in for.

Today as I stopped by to stock up for the weekend they had a celebrity guest, Forrest Cokely one of the most knowledgeable people in the spirits industry worldwide. He’s producer of the blog a drink with forrest… he has been a judge in top spirits competitions Miami Rum Renaissance, San Diego Spirits Festival, Craft Competition… He has been invited to distilleries worldwide and has helped produce respectable successful brands. He’s the guy you can ask about a product on the shelf and learn everything there is to know about that spirit. Forrest has a following and for all the right reasons, people are content drinking highly marketed spirits. Yet after “a drink with forrest…” or after a recommendation from Forrest, you become knowledgeable about what your drinking. Craft, artisan, small batch… there not just words put on a bottle for marketing, they are descriptive words that are used in describing unique spirits brands. Unique spirits brands are not in every liquor store and almost never at your local pharmacy. They are rare, handcrafted and mostly bottled by hand, they make great gifts as hard to find brands add value and yes they are worth the extra stop even on a Friday in rush hour.

So what did I purchase today you ask, my usual for the wife and for me ArteNOM Añejo 1146 Tequila, yes I could tell you more about this tequila than my go to tequila I have been drinking for over a decade, thank you Forrest.

The Mixing Glass is located at The OC Mix, Orange County’s Acclaimed shopping destination, located within Costa Mesa’s SoCo and home to many locally owned boutiques, specialty food spots and a weekly farmers market.
3313 Hyland Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

HOTMIXOLOGY

Hotmixology hosted by Dave Elger, a life-long affair with liquor started as he recalls his father bringing home rare or hand made liquors and educating him about the importance of quality drinks.

Dave spent many years professionally representing a multitude of top liquor brands including Cabo Wabo, Pucker and Jim Beam, and launching some top brands of his own. Dave’s passion, personality and impeccable taste in fine spirits earned him the privilege to work directly with the Jim Beam family and with Cabo Wabo founder Sammy Hagar.

Today, and after decades of top experience, Dave is considered the “foremost authority on everything booze,” and is a leading industry expert regularly called upon by the media and industry heads. So hosting Hotmixology every week is the highlight of his and many viewers week. Dave’s passion for cocktails and entertaining pours through as he helps to shine the spotlight on some of the country’s best bartending talents while educating his audience on the art of mixology. Each week, Hotmixology brings its viewers uniquely themed episodes and accessible, fun-to-make cocktails in a “try this at home” style — perfect for any amateur mixologists interested in learning how to mix the perfect cocktail or expert mixologists who continue to learn and absorb inspiration from others in the field.

Artisan Awards, Beer, Wine, Spirits, Mixers,

Artisan Awards For Artisan Wines, Beers & Spirits

Artisan Awards : a competition that showcases traditional made products from producers around the world. An annual event that assists suppliers with brand awareness, and helps bring consumer attention to artisan brands. Independently owned distillers, brewers, winemakers… enter their top brands and compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, not every brand is guaranteed to win a medal.
What makes a product qualify as artisan? If you have to ask more than likely it is not artisan. It’s not about the money as artisan brands make more than mass-produced brands. It’s not about the quantities as artisan brands gain popularity/sales each year. Artisan Awards is more about the skill, ingredients and traditional methods that goes into making the product.
Select judges will perform a blind tasting of all products submitted. Annual judging is highly respected as we hand pick the experts in each field according to skill. As the industry continues to grow year after year the artisan brands need to get the well-deserved attention for going the extra mile to insure the best possible product is made. If you want to be a judge please email info@artisanawards.com and let us know what category (i.e. wine, beer, spirits…).
Artisan Awards recognizes products made by people who truly love what they do- craftsmen, creating rare, handmade, organic, single barrel… products that keep consistency year after year trough traditional methods. Artisan Awards attracts consumers as each year the largest growing segment is artisan brands.

The One Minute Bartender Will Elger

The One Minute Bartender Book Review

The One Minute Bartender is a must have bartending book. How to make Quick, Simple, Delicious… cocktails in a minute. Bartending basics made fun and easy, with “how to” mix classic, popular and exotic cocktails. Published in 2011 this book continues to gain momentum year after year. Every bar and every home should have a copy on hand for reference and for planning. Focus on Quick, Simple, Delicious Cocktails- people won’t be waiting on drinks they will be enjoying the party.

About The Author, Will Elger a bartender for over two decades has turned bartending into more than just a career. Working in many different venues the goal has always been to make sure everyone has a drink. As cocktails have moved more to mixology or molecular mixology it seems like a longer wait at the bar to get a drink. I do enjoy where cocktails are going yet now I order a beer to drink while I wait for my cocktail to be made. The One Minute Bartender is a back to the basics guide for everyone, bartenders are reminded that the more drinks they make the more money they make, bar owners understand more drinks more profit and consumers or guests in your home realize not waiting for a cocktail is the only way to go and will stop going to places where it’s a long wait for a long island. Order your copy of The One Minute Bartender today at Amazon, Barnes & Noble or your local book store, Cheers!

Purity Vodka Most Awarded Vodka Review

Purity Vodka, most awarded of all ultra-premium vodkas. With 20 years of experience producing whisky, gin, and bitters Master Blender, Thomas Kuuttanen, spent
a decade perfecting the most premium vodka. Purity Vodka which is produced in southern Sweden at the 13th-century Ellinge Castle is crafted from a proprietary mash of grains that includes wheat, barley, and mineral-rich spring water. A unique distillation method was created specifically for this vodka, requiring the fermented mash to be distilled in a copper-and-gold pot designed specifically for vodka. After being distilled thirty-four times in a slow, integrated process, ninety percent of the liquid is lost leaving it so refined it requires no filtration, all the while maintaining the attributes of the barley and organic wheat.

Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix www.partyboxmix.com

Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix Review

Bloody Mary’s are real good, especially when you use the Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix, just add 80 proof vodka. Hotmixology makes it easy, the creators of the Party Box launched the Party Box Bloody Mary Mix. An award winning, premium Bloody Mary mix, the recipe includes a hint of Horseradish, a touch of onion, garlic, red pepper, Tabasco, Worcestershire and other spices that bring all these flavors together, creating the perfect mix. If you want to add more spice, heat or a secret ingredient just add it when you add your spirit and then shake it all up together.
Created by the host of Hotmixology Dave Elger and his mixologists, they created the perfect Bloody Mary mix, a great addition to the line of Hotmixology Party Box Mixers. Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix is easy, you can prepare it in a few minutes before your guests arrive. No need to worry about making drinks individually, enjoy the party. It’s also economical I spent less than $15 on the Party Box Mix and a little bit more for a bottle of vodka.
Here is how it works, Hotmixolgoy Party Box is made with two spouts one on top- open to add your favorite spirit (750ml – 1.75ml) then reseal, shake it for a minute, then use the second spout on the side to pour a perfect cocktail. Party Box comes with 3 liters of premium mix there is room to add 2 more liters of spirits, it will make just over 2 dozen cocktails. Compare this to a pitcher with ice that creates ice melt if it is not consumed right away, this invention makes the perfect cocktail that stays perfect for the duration of the party and if there is any left you can enjoy it days later.
DIY, I like to do a Bloody Mary buffet/build your own Bloody Mary it’s social and a lot of fun. Hotmixology Party Box does all the work, no need to individually make a Bloody Mary for each guest. Start by adding vodka to the Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix. Prepare a tray of glasses, a bowl of ice, a saucer with salt and one with celery salt (for rimming). Add a few garnishes I like to do lemon and celery stalk, and done. You can customize your Bloody Mary Bar a bit more by adding things like cracked/cayenne pepper, salt, sea salt, pickles, bacon, garlic, pickled okra, jalapeño, asparagus, cucumber, crushed red pepper, Himalaya salt, shrimp… add a comment with things you like to add to your Bloody Mary.
