What wax do you use? “Sexwax of coarse”. I used Sexwax as a little kid (grom), now it’s “retro”, it works/does it’s job, and it’s the “go to” choice for pros/experienced surfers. Another plus, they started using an Eco box now packaging is now recyclable. Recyclable package is made of 100% recycled fibers with environmentally friendly, low V.O.C. inks. This new package is easy to open and can be reused to keep your partially used wax clean in its original package. I love that they put on the side “Please don’t litter”.
The Sexwax I am featuring is the;
3X (XXX) Rated Soft (1X softest stickiest – 6X hardest least sticky)
COOL TO MID WARM
58°F to 74°F
14°C to 23°C
Made in the U.S.A.
Non-Toxic – You can chew it! Not a food item, yet all ingredients are designated as food additives by the FDA.
It is a softer wax some of the benefits are, stickier and easier to apply, it will move or rub away in spots where you put a lot of pressure and use. I am happy with the stickiness and stability underfoot.
Sexwax Green Label is my go to wax, as they say it is, “The Best For Your Stick”.
I use Sticky Bumps Surf Wax because I like the smell. This is not a surf wax review I just wanted to write in why I use Sticky Bumps, it works well, goes on easy, and it smells really good. All winter I have been using Sticky Bumps Cool Surf Wax and loving it.
Some Facts about Sticky Bumps, Cool Surfboard Wax is for use in water 58º- 68º F (14º-19ºC). Sticky Bumps Surf Wax is an all-natural non-toxic wax. Eco Friendly, Sticky Bumps was the first surf wax to stop using paraffin-based waxes. Sticky Bumps is long lasting and easy to apply formula. Rub it on nose to tail, rail to rail. The wax weight is over 85 grams. Sticky Bumps surf wax has been around since 1972.
I personally over wax my boards, so I use a lot of wax, and it lasts and sticks good. It is also a surf wax that lasts a while you don’t have to constantly reapply, I use the same wax, as it just stays put, no need to mess with it. Long lasting and easy to apply what more could you want.
Locks keep honest people honest. I keep my stand up paddleboard (SUP) on my sailboat, yet I was always worried that one day it would get stolen. I keep my surfboard in my back yard and every so often usually on an epic day, a “friend” will borrow it for the day. Not any more the company DocksLocks has come out with the most innovative and practical way to lock up your board. It is kind of like a bike lock for your board, providing similar security benefits and it just takes a minute.
DocksLocks security system is a lock for your board. It secures your surfboard/SUP/wakeboard, deterring theft and freeing your mind. Lock your board to your boat, roof rack, surf rack, dock post or lock it to a bike rack while you go for a bite to eat.
The complete system is $49.95; I purchased mine from Action Watersports in Marina del Rey (www.actionwatersports.com). You can buy the complete surfboard and SUP lock system, it’s a small mesh dive bag inside is 1- 10ft stainless steel coated DXLX cable with a resettable combination, 1- DXLX JAW, 1- DXLX cleat for use in a single fin box (only needed if your surfboard or SUP does not have a leash plug) and a cool sticker DocksLocks Surfboard Security Systems (put it on your board to deter burglars, it’s like the ADT signs outside houses, it works). You can also purchase an extra DXLX JAW, lock up multiple boards with one cable. All can be purchased, click below on Amazon!
DOCKsLOCKs, is a must have, if your like me you made a big investment in your surfboards and SUP, it is a small price to keep it safe.
Stand Up Paddleboarding is the fastest growing sport, and finally the competition between producers has leveled the inflated price to an affordable one. Stand Up Paddleboard or SUP for short, is a ton of fun and a great core workout. As consumers test the waters getting into the sport of SUP, I must give some helpful advice. Buy a quality board and a quality paddle from someone who not only makes boards, who also is on the water paddling, using the product he’s selling every day of the year. My dad always said “don’t give advice if you don’t do it, and when you make a purchase buy from someone who uses the product they are selling.”

I’m the guy who always wanted a SUP yet it always seemed too expensive. I called Tony Radfish and started out with a few private lessons, it was everything I had imagined and more, awesome! Radfish is right on Zuma Beach in Malibu, one minute after you park your on a Radfish SUP in the water. Tony Radfish is a well known local he has been surfing the Malibu waves for over four decades he knows where to be on any given day. Known for his experience, professionalism, and winning many competitions in both surfing and SUP. I purchased a Radfish SUP and I have used it everyday since. It is so much fun it doesn’t feel like a workout, yet I have lost 20 pounds. If you purchased a board and paddle like the one I purchased from Radfish in a store it would be three times as much. I recently upgraded my paddle to a Radfish Carbon Fiber Paddle, and I recommend everyone do the same.
