Urbano Cellars 2012 Barbera Award Winning Wine Review

This wine was a bit lighter than the bold blackberry and plumb taste that is evident, it is light on tannins and has a nice acidity very well balanced with a nice long finish, and I highly recommend it for any night of the week.

Facts
Alcohol 14.2%
Brix at harvest 24
PH at harvest 3.65
Harvest date 10/11/12
Bottling 4/3/14Appellation: Clements Hills
Vineyard: Lewis Ranch
Vintage: 2012
Composition: 100% Barbera
Vinification: Grapes were hand sorted, de-stemmed and transferred to 1 ton open bins where it cold-soaked for about 2-3 days before it began primary fermentation with native or naturally occurring yeast from the vineyard. The must was punched down by hand 2-3 times a day. The wine was aged, with minimal racking, in a mixture of mostly neutral French and American oak barrels for about 18 months.
Awards: Gold Medal Winner 2014 Artisan Awards

This wine would go well with rich cheese dishes to a simple pizza or something from the grill, I once again do recommend the 2014 Barbera from Urbano Cellars.

Plan B Wine Cellars Santa Barbara California

Plan B Wine Cellars 2011 Mourvendre Review

Plan B Wine Cellars, has a 2011 Mourvendre from Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara, California. The 2011 Mourvedre works well on it’s own or with just about anything, it’s my new go to wine. If you ask the winery they will say that the cool and wet growing season led to them reducing the crop load a bit and opening up the vine canopy to encourage light and air circulation around the fruit. The result is a wine that is a bit more fruit driven with plum and spice with the familiar smoky earthiness that they are known for. You could save this bottle but temptations will be there as it drinks well today. If you go to Santa Barbara, California wine trail, Plan B is a winery in an industrial part of of town yet they do everything right so make sure you stop by. Janis, wife and co-owner of Plan B is enjoyable and husband, Marlow knows his craft. You will be taken back with all the wine barrels yet realize after you start tasting that they need to supply the demand. They have an elegant wine bar that is both comfortable and educational. Marlow said that they chose this over retirement, Plan B. Marlow and Janis are taking Plan B and creating amazing wines, a must have is the Plan B 2011 Mourvedre.

Barefoot Sweet Red Wine

Barefoot Sweet Red Wine Review

Get Barefoot, Wine and have a great time, with Barefoot Sweet Red Wine, highly recommended to me. So I had to give it a try, and what do I think, Fun Wine! We were barbecuing and there was a little of everything to eat and drink, we opened a bottle of Barefoot Sweet Red Wine and it was a hit.

I looked it up, on their site they recommend it chilled, chill out wine! Tastes, rip, explosive flavors of raspberry, pomegranate and luscious cherry. Time to uncork, summer, summer, summertime, right about that, it is sweet, light and fruity perfect for summer. Barefoot recommends pairing Barefoot Sweet Red Wine with grilled veggies, marinated steaks and BBQ.

Price – $6.99 – 750mL Bottle, it is sweet, but it also says clearly on the label Sweet Red Wine. I don’t usually drink sweet but I did like it, I usually recommend wine with food, yet you can drink this straight. Also we did try making a Barefoot Sweet Red Wine Wine Cooler (s) (tall Collins glass with ice, fill half way with Barefoot Sweet Red Wine and the other half with 7-Up, garnish with a cherry). We also made Barefoot Sweet Red Wine Wine Spritzer (s) (tall Collins glass with ice, fill half way with Barefoot Sweet Red Wine and the other half with club soda, garnish with a lemon twist). Super refreshing and a whole lot of fun, for the price you can’t beat it!
