About Muchote Tequila
Muchote Reposado Premium Tequila, is made by Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados, in Los Altos, Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. The Vivanco family have been agaveros, growing agave for five generations. The Vivanco 800 acre Los Altos farms are known for rich red clay soil that produce a softer/sweeter tequila. Muchote Reposado Tequila is a single estate tequila, made from 100% Weber Blue tequilana agave. The agave piñas are harvested and placed in brick adobe ovens (hornitos) where they are steamed for 24 hours then left to cool for 24 hours. Double distilled for smoothness, fresh agave flavor yet keeping the natural spice. Our traditional, handcrafted and careful process ensures a natural, smooth, and savory tequila. Muchote Tequila is a hand crafted small batch artisan tequila. Muchote Reposado Tequila is aged in American white oak seasoned whiskey barrels for seven months.

Louisiana Lightning Whiskey Review

I was watching this weeks episode of Hotmixology and was introduced to Louisiana Lightning a clear whiskey has a tiny sliver of lightning in every bottle. The story behind Louisiana Lightning is all about “old Mr. Dufour” in a lightning strike in Amite City, Louisiana where he walked up, touched the lightning bolt “Silky smooth although it does give one a bit of a tingle.” After saying that he sliced off a piece of the lightning and the claim now is that there is a little tiny sliver of lightning in every bottle to make it “silky smooth.” Louisiana Lightning is an award winning corn-grain white whiskey distilled in Amite, Louisiana. Below are listed some of the many awards Louisiana Lightning Whiskey has received.

2014 Artisan Awards Spirits Competition Gold Medal
2014 Denver International Spirits Competition Gold Medal
Beverage Tasting Institute International Review of Spirits Award Silver Medal
2014 Straight Up Texas International Spirits Competition Bronze Medal
2014 Los Angeles International Spirits Competition Silver Medal
2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Viva El Tequila! molaa Museum of Latin American Art

molaa Viva El Tequila!

Museum of Latin American Art (molaa) has a must attend annual event, Viva El Tequila! Experience the rich and proud tradition of tequila and some additional Mexican spirits. MOLAA’s annual Viva el Tequila! event is always successful, fun, educational and each year I meet more amazing tequila lovers. Learn from distillers, owners and brand ambassadors about the traditions surrounding tequila as you enjoy unlimited sampling of more than 25 varieties- classic, flavored, mixed cocktails and new tequila brands… Paired with amazing food, this year a gigantic pan of paella being made right in front of you, quesadillas, salad, chips, salsa… and across the way was a desert table with an assortment of sweets and fresh brewed coffee. Mariachi Band Espectacular played all night, dancing, eating and tasting tequila in the MOLAA courtyard outside under the stars on a crisp November evening.

Some of the many brands featured this year were Casa Don Nacho Tequila, El Jimador Tequila, New- Lucha Tequila, Roger Clyne’s Mexican Moonshine, Suerte Tequila featuring their New- Suerte Limited Edition Extra Anejo Tequila, Tequila Herradura, Purasangre Tequila, Lapis Tequila, Seleccion Artenom Tequila (very popular), Mina Real Mezcal, Don Amado Mezcal and so much more… One of the highlights this year was Marco Antonio Ramos master mixologist and Tequilier featuring Honey. The National Honey Board (Miel Pura) had Marco front and center mixing up some amazing cocktails all featuring honey, three of his signature drinks for the evening were the Spicy Tropical Gold, Smoky Bee and Café a la Mexicana all made with honey.
