Plan B Wine Cellars, has a 2011 Mourvendre from Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara, California. The 2011 Mourvedre works well on it’s own or with just about anything, it’s my new go to wine. If you ask the winery they will say that the cool and wet growing season led to them reducing the crop load a bit and opening up the vine canopy to encourage light and air circulation around the fruit. The result is a wine that is a bit more fruit driven with plum and spice with the familiar smoky earthiness that they are known for. You could save this bottle but temptations will be there as it drinks well today. If you go to Santa Barbara, California wine trail, Plan B is a winery in an industrial part of of town yet they do everything right so make sure you stop by. Janis, wife and co-owner of Plan B is enjoyable and husband, Marlow knows his craft. You will be taken back with all the wine barrels yet realize after you start tasting that they need to supply the demand. They have an elegant wine bar that is both comfortable and educational. Marlow said that they chose this over retirement, Plan B. Marlow and Janis are taking Plan B and creating amazing wines, a must have is the Plan B 2011 Mourvedre.

Angel’s Envy Bourbon is sampled throughout every step of the finishing process, they blend every batch to taste. Rooted in 200 years of bourbon heritage, they create hand-finished spirits that aren’t afraid to improve on the classic tradition. Inspired by legendary Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson’s lifetime spent crafting fine spirits, Angel’s Envy is a masterpiece. The 5% of spirit lost each year during barrel aging is called the “Angel’s Share.” After tasting the finished whiskey, Lincoln joked that we’d finally gotten a better deal than the angels. And so Angel’s Envy was born.
Often describe as malcontents, for Angel’s Envy ‘malcontent’ means that they can never be satisfied with good enough, and better still isn’t the best. Restless creators who respect and celebrate the bourbon tradition, but try not to shackle themselves to it. Approaching each spirit that is finished with a craftsman’s passion to experiment and improve, and work every day to ensure that Lincoln Henderson’s exacting standards and legacy of excellence continue with each batch.
A small company, very particular about their finished spirits. While this might make their product a little harder to find, they will never sacrifice our quality. Also never hosted or sponsored a competition in order to ‘earn’ awards. All of our high rankings and accolades have been earned the old fashioned way—unsolicited.

AnestasiA Vodka is and award winning spirit, it’s the essence of two all-natural, all-American ingredients. First is the sweet corn sourced from northwestern farms, and second is the exceptionally pure water of the Cascade Mountains. The waters of this range flow through riverbeds of lava rock, and thereby avoid picking the sediment—metallic salts such as magnesium and calcium—present in most water sources. In fact, our waters contain 90% less of these compounds than your average drinking water. This makes our water remarkably ‘soft’, and results in Anestasia vodka’s naturally derived purity.
Once harvested, our corn grains are mixed with fermenting sugars and yeast—then distilled five times. This distillate is then blended down with our uniquely pure water before being filtered a further five times through crushed lava rock, neutral charcoal, and Arkansas-derived quartz crystal. This filtration process removes any remaining impurities, often including the congeners which can cause hangovers. The final result is fresh, easy-to-drink vodka that is both lightly weighted and very smooth.
Our whole process, from the grains we use to the naturally purified water, is an embodiment of the American artisan experience. This vodka serves as an homage to a longstanding American tradition—the domestic creation of handcrafted quality—as well as a beacon for a new generation of innovative American luxury.
AnestasiA Vodka was created to demonstrate that luxury spirits can be crafted in the United States. In 2007, founder Yuliya Mamontova started with the singular goal of producing the best vodka possible. Growing up in a European family of vodka producers, Yuliya learned firsthand the distillation, fermentation, and packaging expertise passed from generation to generation. In homage to her family’s traditions, AnestasiA is produced in small batches by skilled artisans using select all natural ingredients. We believe in domestic craftsmanship and ingenuity.
Our process begins in Bend, Oregon, handcrafted on a 24-acre farm. Knowing how important water is to the vodka distillation process and ultimately to the taste of a finished product, as vodka is 60% water, we chose to produce our vodka in the Northwest. Their water sources are consistently clean, and those that flow from Bend’s Cascade Mountains, exceptionally pure. The unusually low concentration of calcium carbonate in the region’s water supply ensures our vodka has a smooth, silk-like finish, and can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. Our vodka purity embodies the pristine wilderness that surrounds our distillery.
We are a family-owned and family-operated business. Our commitment to superior taste, domestic production, and modern sustainability remains unwavering as we continue to focus our efforts on the quality of our product and work to rekindle the American spirit of producing luxury goods domestically.

RumChata is made with premium Rum & Horchata. Horchata was originally concocted by the ancient Egyptians for the Pharaohs, a feat easily as impressive as the Pyramids. The pioneering Egyptian chufa style horchata, which is made with chufa—also known as the tigernut—was so revered that it soon found its way to Spain during the time of the Moorish kings.
Today, you’ll continue to find horchata made with this same original recipe in most areas of Spain, where it remains a very popular summertime beverage—we’re talking Antonio Banderas popular. Chufa plantations aren’t exactly a booming business on this side of the pond, so when horchata was finally introduced to the Americas the recipe had to be changed. Rice based horchata is now served extensively throughout Mexico and Central America, where the recipe is often passed down generation to generation. These authentic recipes include varied mixtures of rice, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and either water or dairy.
What is more delicious than horchata is horchata with rum in it, RumChata. Get your next party started with a bottle of RumChata, and serve it on the rocks or try out some of these great RumChata recipes!

I was at a friends house right on the beach drinking wine and eating lunch, as I went to take my plate into the kitchen I noticed Barefoot Pinot Noir bottle. She told me we were drinking Pinot Noir yet never mentioned the brand. I am no wine snob but I do pay a bit extra when I purchase pino’s. A quick review, it was smooth as I have already stated, smooth with a bit of spice, dark cherry, berry but more wild raspberry, a lot of fruit up front and a light earthy flavor. We were eating vegetable lasagna, yet I would pair the taste of this wine with just about any lunch I had this week. Another great thing about Barefoot Pinot Noir is the price at just over $6 it tastes like it could be $12. Barefoot, Wine, Beach.

In the Cognac world VS means Very special and XO means Extra Old, so Grey Goose VX is Very Extra!
The world’s best tasting French wheat vodka masterfully finished with a hint of precious Cognac grapes from France’s Champagne region. I was encouraged to try it chilled neat or on the rocks. It tried it chilled neat then with a couple ice cubes and I have to say it is amazing chilled neat. I tasted fruit, dried fruit, some citrus and sweet. I look forward making a Grey Goose VX martini stirred with a lemon twist, it could very well be my new cocktail. The bottle is beautiful, it comes in an elegant gift box when you open it you see a very well designed impressive decanter. Grey Goose VX, what Grey Goose calls vodka exceptionnelle finished with a hint of precious cognac, also printed on the bottle “exclusive edition” so stock up. It is sold at fine retailers and restaurants nationwide, with a retail price of $75.00/750 ml; it goes quick so I would encourage you to buy two at a time, Santé.
