33 Straight Bourbon Whiskey is limited so try to pick up a bottle ASAP. The small release, small batch whiskey had a big following. They celebrate the events of 1933 that ended the Era of Prohibition in the United States. 33 combines distinct barrels, each aged for 6 years in a private rack house. The distinct flavors from each barrel are then expertly blended, at Cutler’s Artisan Distillery in Santa Barbara, California. With an end result being a very smooth whiskey with balanced sweet notes of honey, smoke, caramel, vanilla as well as spice, with a dry finish, I do like the fact that this is a higher proof (86 Proof) whiskey, you would not know it, yet when I wrote this I looked and was impressed once again at how smooth it is, Cheers!
Plan B Wine Cellars, has a 2011 Mourvendre from Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara, California. The 2011 Mourvedre works well on it’s own or with just about anything, it’s my new go to wine. If you ask the winery they will say that the cool and wet growing season led to them reducing the crop load a bit and opening up the vine canopy to encourage light and air circulation around the fruit. The result is a wine that is a bit more fruit driven with plum and spice with the familiar smoky earthiness that they are known for. You could save this bottle but temptations will be there as it drinks well today. If you go to Santa Barbara, California wine trail, Plan B is a winery in an industrial part of of town yet they do everything right so make sure you stop by. Janis, wife and co-owner of Plan B is enjoyable and husband, Marlow knows his craft. You will be taken back with all the wine barrels yet realize after you start tasting that they need to supply the demand. They have an elegant wine bar that is both comfortable and educational. Marlow said that they chose this over retirement, Plan B. Marlow and Janis are taking Plan B and creating amazing wines, a must have is the Plan B 2011 Mourvedre.

Dunkin’ Donuts first location in CA, located at 12th and Wilshire in Santa Monica, California. What a treat every time I hit New York or Florida I have to stop by for some French Vanilla Coffee and a couple of my favorite frosting filled powdered donuts or dozen assorted munchkins (donut holes). Now I can pop in and enjoy DD’s after my morning run to the pier.
Dunkin’ Brands Group, Inc. based in Massachusetts also has Baskin-Robbins (7,300 shops), Dunkin’ Donuts nearly 11,000 locations in 33 countries. In New York City there are more Dunkin’ Donuts than Starbucks, it is a company with a big following of loyal consumers. I like a bit of variety when I drink my morning coffee, my plans are to add DD’s into my mix of Starbucks, Intelligentsia, Peet’s, Coffee Bean, Krispy Kreme… and all my secret mom and pop coffee shops I love to go to.
This is the first of a few hundred Dunkin’ Donuts that will open in the next few years. “I’m at Dunkin’ Donuts do you want me to pick you up something” yes it’s time to pop in to Dunkin Donuts and find out what your favorites are. If it’s your first time may I recommend the hot French Vanilla Coffee and any donut they have mastered both.
