I’m a fan of Oprah Winfrey, but if I go to Starbucks I always have a black coffee.
Teavana Oprah Chai Tea or as they call it at Starbucks “Oprah Chai”, it is a hit and sales wise- people will by anything that Oprah puts her name on. Those were the selling points I was told at Starbucks so I decided to give it a try. It was served hot yet I recommend when you try it for the first time to try it iced, unless you make it at home then I recommend hot (you can customize it to your liking).
Howard Schultz is a marketing genius, I do see many more stars signature menu items in the near future within Starbucks Corporation. This is real not just an endorsement, Oprah Winfrey not only blends and drinks chai tea daily she helped in the blending of Oprah Chai. Oprah Winfrey said, “My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine.”
Teaming up with Starbucks and Teavana all proceeds of the signature Teavana Oprah Chai Tea will go to charities that help youth education. Charities like Pathways to College www.pathwaystocollege.info US Dream Academy www.usdreamacademy.org Girls Inc. www.girlsinc.org National CARES Mentoring Movement www.caresmentoring.org and Opera Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation www.owla.co.za if you take a look at the websites you can see just how much is getting accomplished. Oprah Chai has also lead to Steep Your Soul www.oprah.com/app/steep-your-soul.html a must see very powerful, inspiring videos with great guests.
Tasting Oprah’s Chai for the first time you should imagine that you are sitting in a coffee/tea shop in India. I would say close your eyes and don’t think of anything be Zen, opening your mind to a new positive experience. It will be bold something Starbucks is known for in the way they make there most popular coffee, Pike Place Roast. You will taste hints from the base/flavor profile black pepper, chicory, cardamom, clove, ginger and South African red rooibos. It truly is the perfect blend, a bit more flavor coming from the black pepper and ginger, not too gingery yet brings out a nice spice aftertaste. When you make Oprah Chai at home the pleasant spice will fill the room a really enjoyable aroma.
Back to my usual black coffee order at Starbucks, maybe Oprah Chai is that much needed change they say “variety is the spice of life” (life is more interesting when it changes often and you have many different experience).
