Panamá-Pacific Rum 23 Year, is a newly imported rum is amazing, it jumped out at me as I have not seen the label before. I learned that it was just imported into the USA so if you can’t find it ask your local liquor store to order it for you.
Panamá-Pacific Rum is crafted in Panamá, from local ingredients, the sugarcane is processed, fermented, distilled and aged in the midst of the sugar cane fields. As an honored testimonial, this rum is never chill-filtered– no caramel color and no artificial flavoring. The 23 year age statement represents the minimum age of the expression.
Spice seems to be the rage these days, so when I was out I asked about Besamim Liqueur. I kept seeing it at bars and stores yet had never tasted it before. Besamim Liqueur is an aromatic spice liqueur. Very vibrant in the aroma, where you think the spice would take over, and as you taste it you realize it is perfectly balanced. After a few drinks, I said this would be great with coffee, and we mixed it over ice with some coffee and a splash of cream that made a great late night cocktail. The fact is I could drink Besamim on it’s own yet as variety is the spice of life, more my cocktails will be created.
Looking at the website I learned Besamim Liqueur is a all natural handcrafted spirit, made from pure cane sugar spirits, hand ground spices, and mountain spring water, it’s 37% alc/vol. They never use industrial alcohol, corn syrup or any artificial sweetners or additives. On the Besamim website I did find a Cocktail Recipe page for some great drink ideas. It has won many Gold Medals, from SIP Awards, Craft Competition, Tastings… I purchased it at Mission Wine & Spirits liquor store that will ship it right to your house.
Craft Competition uses a glass engineered to expose all the aromas hiding behind nose-numbing alcohol. NEAT Glass allows you to taste the truth and discover what’s hiding in your glass.
In 2003, a simple mistake in a glass blowing class created a misshapen tumbler which was used in a pinch for want of a clean glass. The amazing change in expression led to a new approach to glass design which is called Naturally Engineered Aroma Technology (NEAT). By studying links between human physiology and molecular behavior, they unlocked the hidden dimensions of distilled spirits for your exquisite pleasure and hedonistic enjoyment, with a spirits glass that directs strong alcohol away from the nose. Over the next nine years, fifty two different design iterations, hundreds of tastings, and GCMS studies led to the perfect ultimate spirits glass now known as the NEAT glass.
Science builds better glassware: The NEAT glass…Design driven by science brings truth in taste.
The Patented Design: Create a wide vessel to enhance evaporation, short enough to allow heavy aromas to reach the nose, and squeeze the vapors so lighter molecules like ethanol alcohol move faster. Flare the rim so squeezed molecules have room to expand, and alcohol scurries over the rim to disappear and never numb the nose, while the other slower moving aromas are detected in the sweet spot, without alcohol. This design patented in the USA D663165, utility patented in the People’s Republic of China, and utility patent pending in Austria, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Definition of Flavor: The blend of taste and smell sensations evoked by a substance in the mouth. A thousand aromas, five tastes define flavor. The total impression includes mouth feel, from sensors that detect oily or dry, temperature, texture, minty, and many others. Aroma (90%) + Taste (5%) + Mouth Feel (5%) = Flavor.
Evaporation: The “engine” that powers aromas to the nose aided by large evaporation area and vigorous swirling. Without evaporation, there is nothing to smell.
Compress and Release: The neck of the NEAT Glass compresses, and the wide flared rim allows expansion as vapors pass through the narrow opening. The lightest vapor – ethanol alcohol – diffuses and disperses.
What’s the benefit?
No more nose burn or numbness. Your nose is free to detect, savor, and enjoy the subtle, wonderful aromas the distiller intended. Your nose will also tell you if the distiller did his job with care, making the proper head and tail cuts, using clean equipment, and even the condition of the barrels. Without alcohol dumbing down your sense of smell, absolutely nothing can hide from your nose.
What’s the scientific verification?
The NEAT Glass was designed for maximum drinking enjoyment and tested under controlled, uniform conditions against other spirits glasses at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) Chemistry Department to verify our claims.
Montana Moonshine is made with four grains and gently distilled to bring out the full flavor. It is what whiskey looks and tastes like before it goes into a barrel. Smooth, sweet and strong, Montana Moonshine is the perfect mixer. Use it like a vodka or a whiskey and you can’t go wrong.
They use a copper pot still made just for them by Bavarian Holstein Stills from Germany. They wanted to make whiskies and brandies, and a few specialty spirits, so they sought out one of the finest small batch stills in the world. The custom still is handcrafted out of copper, and hand-hammered to create more surface area to react with our spirits vapors. Since they specialize in whiskey which has a lot of flavor to it, copper was an important element to the design, as it reacts with unpleasant tasting compounds, allowing the better flavor to shine through.
The Montana Moonshine pin-up illustration is of MaryAnne. She loves to fish remote mountain streams during the full moon. Like our Montana Moonshine, she is independent and easy-going.

Bloody Mary’s are real good, especially when you use the Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix, just add 80 proof vodka. Hotmixology makes it easy, the creators of the Party Box launched the Party Box Bloody Mary Mix. An award winning, premium Bloody Mary mix, the recipe includes a hint of Horseradish, a touch of onion, garlic, red pepper, Tabasco, Worcestershire and other spices that bring all these flavors together, creating the perfect mix. If you want to add more spice, heat or a secret ingredient just add it when you add your spirit and then shake it all up together.
Created by the host of Hotmixology Dave Elger and his mixologists, they created the perfect Bloody Mary mix, a great addition to the line of Hotmixology Party Box Mixers. Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix is easy, you can prepare it in a few minutes before your guests arrive. No need to worry about making drinks individually, enjoy the party. It’s also economical I spent less than $15 on the Party Box Mix and a little bit more for a bottle of vodka.
Here is how it works, Hotmixolgoy Party Box is made with two spouts one on top- open to add your favorite spirit (750ml – 1.75ml) then reseal, shake it for a minute, then use the second spout on the side to pour a perfect cocktail. Party Box comes with 3 liters of premium mix there is room to add 2 more liters of spirits, it will make just over 2 dozen cocktails. Compare this to a pitcher with ice that creates ice melt if it is not consumed right away, this invention makes the perfect cocktail that stays perfect for the duration of the party and if there is any left you can enjoy it days later.
DIY, I like to do a Bloody Mary buffet/build your own Bloody Mary it’s social and a lot of fun. Hotmixology Party Box does all the work, no need to individually make a Bloody Mary for each guest. Start by adding vodka to the Hotmixology Party Box Bloody Mary Mix. Prepare a tray of glasses, a bowl of ice, a saucer with salt and one with celery salt (for rimming). Add a few garnishes I like to do lemon and celery stalk, and done. You can customize your Bloody Mary Bar a bit more by adding things like cracked/cayenne pepper, salt, sea salt, pickles, bacon, garlic, pickled okra, jalapeño, asparagus, cucumber, crushed red pepper, Himalaya salt, shrimp… add a comment with things you like to add to your Bloody Mary.
My new favorite gin, super smooth, Bummer & Lazarus Gin! Master distiller Carter Raff created his own stills for his proprietary San Francisco distillery situated on Treasure Island. Raff has 24 years of winemaking and 14 years of distilling, now the creator of Bummer & Lazarus Gin. It is a 92-proof, gin that uses 100 percent California grapes at its base. The gin was named after two fabled canine celebrities from San Francisco’s historical past (when Lazarus died, 30,000 attended the funeral, when Bummer died, Mark Twain wrote the eulogy). The gin boasts a well-balanced flavorful profile with hints of citrus and floral notes as well as a long spicy finish. This award winning gin has won a Gold Medal at the 2013 Craft Spirits Competition and named one of the top 50 spirits by Drink Me Magazine. It makes a great gin and tonic yet I tend to drink more of it on the rocks with a lemon twist, either way I am sure you will enjoy it, cheers!
