Sticky Bumps Review

I use Sticky Bumps Surf Wax because I like the smell. This is not a surf wax review I just wanted to write in why I use Sticky Bumps, it works well, goes on easy, and it smells really good. All winter I have been using Sticky Bumps Cool Surf Wax and loving it.
Some Facts about Sticky Bumps, Cool Surfboard Wax is for use in water 58º- 68º F (14º-19ºC). Sticky Bumps Surf Wax is an all-natural non-toxic wax. Eco Friendly, Sticky Bumps was the first surf wax to stop using paraffin-based waxes. Sticky Bumps is long lasting and easy to apply formula. Rub it on nose to tail, rail to rail. The wax weight is over 85 grams. Sticky Bumps surf wax has been around since 1972.
I personally over wax my boards, so I use a lot of wax, and it lasts and sticks good. It is also a surf wax that lasts a while you don’t have to constantly reapply, I use the same wax, as it just stays put, no need to mess with it. Long lasting and easy to apply what more could you want.

Price is $2.00 – $3.00, worth every cent/sent!

PFD Life Vest For Fishing, Boating, Stand Up Paddleboarding Review

A life vest/jacket is required when you stand up paddleboard (SUP) in most marinas. You don’t want the big cumbersome style, you don’t want to get a ticket, you want to get a tan and you want the smallest most efficient life vest around. Something that will keep the fuzz away, yet save you in case of an emergency when you really in need. You want a Hobie SUP Belt Pak Lifevest, it’s so light you forget it’s on and it fits around your waist so you won’t have any tan lines.

Product Features:
USGS Approved Type III PFD
Manually activated inflation system
Lighter and less restrictive
Convenient exterior zipper pocket for storage of small items
Durable ripstop nylon
2in / 5 cm wide adjustable nylon waist belt
Includes (1) CO 2 cylinder and instructions
Weight 1.00 lbs.

Let’s face it the best flotation devise for SUP riders is your SUP. Everyone who surfs or SUP’s knows that, a solution could be make everyone where a leash. But the life vest/jacket rule is here to stay, so make the investment. I did everything I could to save money, I got the net and attached a life jacket, I wore a retro life jacket and I purchased some of the less expensive PFD’s available. They work but, they are bigger and they are not secure so they flap around. It always was a hassle so I went without and got a ticket. The next day I went out and purchased the Hobie SUP PFD, it stays in place, the adjustable belt is thin it’s not in the way, I even where it when I go sailing, it’s so small you forget you have it on.

For just over $100 you can look like a pro, restriction free, not be hassled by the fuzz and working on a tan free of any tan lines. Go to Hobie to order online or visit you local Hobie Surf Shops.

Wearing a Hobie SUP PFD looks so cool, it could trigger the return of the Fanny Pack,
let’s hope not!

Lock for your Surfboard or Stand Up Paddle Board it’s called Dockslocks Review

Locks keep honest people honest. I keep my stand up paddleboard (SUP) on my sailboat, yet I was always worried that one day it would get stolen. I keep my surfboard in my back yard and every so often usually on an epic day, a “friend” will borrow it for the day. Not any more the company DocksLocks has come out with the most innovative and practical way to lock up your board. It is kind of like a bike lock for your board, providing similar security benefits and it just takes a minute.

DocksLocks security system is a lock for your board. It secures your surfboard/SUP/wakeboard, deterring theft and freeing your mind. Lock your board to your boat, roof rack, surf rack, dock post or lock it to a bike rack while you go for a bite to eat.

The complete system is $49.95; I purchased mine from Action Watersports in Marina del Rey (www.actionwatersports.com). You can buy the complete surfboard and SUP lock system, it’s a small mesh dive bag inside is 1- 10ft stainless steel coated DXLX cable with a resettable combination, 1- DXLX JAW, 1- DXLX cleat for use in a single fin box (only needed if your surfboard or SUP does not have a leash plug) and a cool sticker DocksLocks Surfboard Security Systems (put it on your board to deter burglars, it’s like the ADT signs outside houses, it works). You can also purchase an extra DXLX JAW, lock up multiple boards with one cable. All can be purchased, click below on Amazon!

DOCKsLOCKs, is a must have, if your like me you made a big investment in your surfboards and SUP, it is a small price to keep it safe.

SUP, Stand Up Paddle Board, What Should I Buy and Why?

Stand Up Paddleboarding is the fastest growing sport, and finally the competition between producers has leveled the inflated price to an affordable one. Stand Up Paddleboard or SUP for short, is a ton of fun and a great core workout. As consumers test the waters getting into the sport of SUP, I must give some helpful advice. Buy a quality board and a quality paddle from someone who not only makes boards, who also is on the water paddling, using the product he’s selling every day of the year. My dad always said “don’t give advice if you don’t do it, and when you make a purchase buy from someone who uses the product they are selling.”

Ever surf Zuma Beach? Vacationers or locals, when your in California head to Malibu and hook up with Tony “Radfish” Stearns. He is not only the maker of Radfish Stand Up Paddle Boards some of the best/lightest SUP boards made, he is one of the best SUP riders in the industry. If you want to see for yourself take a look at his YouTube channel #radfishmalibu and subscribe. You can take SUP lessons, purchase a SUP or upgrade your SUP to one of his carbon fiber/Kevlar custom shaped boards and carbon fiber paddles.

I’m the guy who always wanted a SUP yet it always seemed too expensive. I called Tony Radfish and started out with a few private lessons, it was everything I had imagined and more, awesome! Radfish is right on Zuma Beach in Malibu, one minute after you park your on a Radfish SUP in the water. Tony Radfish is a well known local he has been surfing the Malibu waves for over four decades he knows where to be on any given day. Known for his experience, professionalism, and winning many competitions in both surfing and SUP. This is a five star operation in every aspect, customer service, ocean safety and any other concerns you may have. If you want a wetsuit he has them available, if you ding your board he does repairs.

I purchased a Radfish SUP and I have used it everyday since. It is so much fun it doesn’t feel like a workout, yet I have lost 20 pounds. If you purchased a board and paddle like the one I purchased from Radfish in a store it would be three times as much. I recently upgraded my paddle to a Radfish Carbon Fiber Paddle, and I recommend everyone do the same. If your looking for a Stand Up Paddleboard take a look at Radfish, the best boards at wholesale prices. Tony Radfish makes them himself and sells wholesale directly to the public.
